Coleta is a low-contrast serif intended for body texts, but with 6 weights ranging from the Thin to the Black, giving the designer plenty of room to play with enough range to be used for headline and display work.
Despite its large x-height and small ascenders and descenders, Coleta remains legible with its open counters, ink traps and small details which won’t clog at small sizes. The italics are sharp and provide a slight sense of movement. Angled endings in the serifs, terminals, and spurs give it a certain warmth. Details such as ink traps were taken into consideration with the common problematic characters. These details become more noticeable as the weights vary and reveal the character’s personality.
Coleta currently has a language coverage of Latin 1, and it will likely be extended to cover more languages in the near future.
