Hello. I am Edgar Valenzuela — a Vancouver-based graphic designer with experience working on corporate identities, print communications, packaging, and interactive design. I have an obsessive relationship with branding and type. Some of my work has been published and recognized by HP, CMYK Magazine, and the Logo Lounge Book series.
I believe design is not decoration, but communication, and that our job is to provide a solution to a problem. I enjoy all of the challenges involved, but I still take design seriously and am focused on results, not just pretty, abstract shapes. I know that a job will not get far if it lacks a strong idea, message, solid execution, and all of the touchpoints that create a brand, and ultimately, help the brand sell its product and service.
I am a very detail-oriented individual that is never satisfied with the outcome as I believe a “good” result can still be improved, and that meeting goals is not enough. I’m always looking for ways to exceed expectations, broaden my knowledge and understand all aspects of the design process — from sketching and marketing to the delivery, as well as further exploration with letterpress and type development.
